During a recent consultation with
Julie
Cales,
she suggested that I consider Ionic Hair Straightening
to tame my very frizzy hair. I opted to have the process
done by one of the
Assistants-in-Training at
A Great Escape, and could not have been more
impressed with his professionalism AND the fabulous
results - my once unruly mane is now straight and silky!

To Locks Of Love
September 2004,
Farmville VA
Rising Buckingham
Middle School student Jessica Smith, 11,
recently donated a portion of her hair to Locks of Love, a
nonprofit organization that provides hairpieces to
financially
disadvantaged children under
age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss.
Jessica decided to donate her hair several months ago after hearing
about Locks of Love from her mother, Sherry.
Stylist Julie
Cales,
owner of A Great Escape
Spalon, combs Jessica out
(top left) before shearing off 10 inches of her hair.
Jessica displays one of the pony tails (bottom left)
cut from her hair that will be used to make a Locks of Love

Haircutting for a
Cause: The
next time you pop into 'A Great Escape Spalon' for a trim, your hair
clippings actually bypass the dumpster and go straight to
support the environment. Julie supports the environmental
organization Excess Access to help keep hair out of landfills
while simultaneously saving marine life from oil spills.
"We sweep up our usually discarded hair trimmings and collect them
until mailed".
